:: GIS

Geographic Information Systems (GIS) were developed and pioneered in Canada in the 1960's. A GIS uses computer technology to assemble, store, manipulate and display geographically referenced information.

At Forest Protection Limited, we use GIS to help plan aerial applications, determine coordinates for aircraft guidance systems, display and analyze aerial applications after completion, and to produce presentation quality maps.

We use GIS to:

create boundaries
add imagery
add roads
upload coordinate files to aircraft
download flight data and evaluate results

Forest Protection Limited is an industry leader in the integration of GIS and aircraft guidance systems for aerial applications. For example, we build customized computer programs to import/export mapping data betweem our aircraft and our office GIS, which increases our ability to get information quickly to the people who need it.
