:: MONITORING

Monitoring meteorology conditions is essential for aerial applications, whether it's seeding, spraying or wildfire control or for atmospheric research, air quality studies or plume behavior.

Our on-board meteorology equipment provides pilots and researchers with up-to-the-second knowledge of prevailing winds, temperature and RH%. Continuous meteorology profiles can be generated between different altitudes or point data can be collected with latitudes and longitudes so that your meteorological data can be put onto maps.

Forest Protection Limited currently has two types of airborne meteorology systems:

The first system consists of an airflow probe mounted below the lower wing surface, a carrier-phase GPS antenna mounted at each wingtip with inertial sensors and a central processing module located in the cockpit. The central processing module assimilates the wealth of sensor data using a sophisticated digital signal processing routine that is updated 20 times per second. This system is a permanent install to an aircraft.

The second system measures the same wind, temperature and RH% variables but this system’s unique feature is that it can be easily installed and removed from aircraft like the Cessna 172 or Cessna 206.
